Laser, waxing or sugaring in Bali?
Three ways to the same smooth skin, and they cost very different amounts over a year. Here are the numbers, the honest downside of each, and the one thing that matters in Bali and nowhere else — your tan.
What a year costs
Waxing and sugaring are cheap once and expensive forever: the hair comes back in three to four weeks, so you pay again, every month, for as long as you want smooth skin. A laser course works the other way round — you pay once and then almost stop.

So the laser course pays for itself in about a year on a Brazilian, a year and a half on under arms, and two to two and a half years on full legs. After a course of 8–10 the arithmetic changes again: about 10 % of the hair keeps growing, and most people come back for a single session every four or five months — on under arms that is up to 1.200.000 a year, less with Max plan, instead of 1.287.000 – 1.950.000.
A year of waxing is counted as 13 visits, one every four weeks. Does it hurt more?
Waxing and sugaring pull the hair out of the follicle — that is how they work, and that is why they hurt the same way every time. A laser does not pull anything. There is some discomfort, but far less than waxing: our lasers use modern cooling, and we can lower the power for extra comfort (a few more sessions may then be needed).
Ingrown hairs
This is the complaint that brings most people to us. Hair that has been pulled out grows back through skin that has already closed over, and it can curl under instead of coming through. With a laser nothing is pulled: treated hair falls out on its own within five to ten days, and there is less of it each time.

The Bali part: your tan
This is where the three methods really separate. Waxing and sugaring do not care what colour your skin is. A laser does — unless the studio has the right one.
Melanin absorbs laser light
A tan can turn a treatment that is routine in Europe into a burn risk here.
That is why we have three
Nd:YAG 1064 nm doesn't target melanin and works safely on dark and tanned skin, Alexandrite 755 nm on light skin, Diode 808 nm in between. We choose after a free 15-minute skin test.
The rule works the other way too
No wax and no sugaring for about 10 days before a laser session — the laser needs the root in place. Shave the area two days before, razor only; if you didn't manage to, we'll shave it at the studio, free.

About 10 % of the hair keeps growing, and new follicles appear over the years. Most people come back for a single session every 4–5 months; for some, the hair doesn't come back at all — it depends on your skin, very individual.
